Terrapura

Production in Itata Valley dates back to the 1550’s, mainly because it boasts some of Chile’s best-suited geographical features for growing more delicate grape varieties, such as Pinot Noir. Grapes can easily over-ripen under Chile’s intense sun, but here the vineyards enjoy coastal exposure to Pacific breezes, rainfall, and cloud cover, allowing them to retain their light character.

TerraPura holds a Sustainable Wine of Chile certification thanks to the work of Head Winemaker Felipe Vial. Vial strives for sustainable production, and leads projects beyond winemaking to ensure this goal can be met. These include up-cycling waste plastic into gifts, enrolling employees in carpentry workshops to give used wood from barrels new life, and native reforestation. Thanks to these projects, TerraPura, meaning ‘pure land’, earns its name.
