Valpolicella Ca’ Fiui 2018 by Corte Sant’Alda

Marinella Camerani’s Corte Sant’Alda vineyards are in the eastern Valpolicella zone of the Val di Mezzane, where higher altitude and a more sheltered growing zone creates a fresher, more juicy style of wine.

Complex spice notes overlay the young, fresh fruit flavours of this wine.  A result of resting in the fermentation vats for six months. A vibrant, layered example of the style.

  • Description

Ca’ Fiui Valpolicella is from Marinella Camerani at Corte Sant’Alda. Unlike many Valpolicella wines (not including Amarone or Ripasso), this wine ages in wood tonneaux. This is to soften the tannins and oxidate the wine as it ages.

The wine rests with its skins in the fermentation vats for six months. As a result, it has a spice notes over fresh fruit flavours. These flavours set the Ca’ Fiui Valpolicella apart from other wines of the region.

Marinella is a riot of fun and energy, and she has great drive and vision. Her wines are complex and elegant, with the ability to age.

It is of note that Corte Sant’Alda is the only organic and Demeter-certified biodynamic winery in the Veneto. Try some of Marinella’s other wines here.
